Cycling outside the box

I grew up with the promise of a cardboard box, the mystery toy buried somewhere deep within the cornflakes.

Shopping online, life is now routinely delivered to our door in cardboard boxes of all shapes and sizes, each one a mystery.

At Schiphol Airport, Amsterdam, I’m waiting at the oversized luggage carousel for our boxed bicycles to appear. Suddenly the bicycles arrive and we jump about like excited kids, quickly setting about putting them together there and then, by the carousel: Wheels, handlebars, peddles and panniers.

We cycled straight out through international arrivals and back into the Netherlands; my cycling paradise!

Riding safely on designated cycleways out across the country through Utrecht, Lagedijk, Megen, heading south

  1. Hi Nick, I have always admired your attitude about life experiencing it not watching it pass you by. – I love seeing all your pictures and reading your blog.
